PLEASE NOTE:
1. All groups are mixed - boys and girls.
2. Wear clean, non-marking gym shoes or indoor soccer shoes. Some shoes leave marks on the floor
that are very hard to clean off after each game.
3. On days when school buses are cancelled due to weather, the High School will be closed in the evening and soccer will be cancelled.
4. There are some days when the NLSS gym is not available for soccer due to school events.
5. A list of rules will be given to players and parents at the beginning of each season. Basically, we want everyone to have fun, avoid injury, and stay out of mischief. We are guests at the North Lambton Secondary School and we do not want to abuse the privilege. As Austin Powers says, "Oh behave!"
6. Each group typically has about 18 to 25 players, both boys and girls. Players begin with a few minutes of free play to kick around a soccer ball and warm up. Younger players may have a short skill session. Then the group splits up into 3 or 4 teams that take turns playing games for the rest of the time. This is pick-up soccer with the emphasis on having fun and playing for the joy of the game with no pressure at all. Every player gets to handle the ball a lot more than in an outdoor soccer game. While they are at it, players typically develop ball control, short passing skills and confidence that make the outdoor season more fun too.
