Friends of Soccer,

 

The Taxandria Soccer Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and enjoyment of soccer. Currently we have over 400 participants ranging in age from 3 to 55 years old. Since the club’s inception over 25 years ago, it has seen thousands of players enjoy the sport and we hope to provide fitness, fun and competition long into the future. More than 15 teams compete at all skill and age levels. The club also has a unique Saturday Morning Soccer Program, which hosts over 200 children under the age of 9. This program has the older players passing their skills on to the next generation.

 

In February 2006, the Taxandria Falcons Soccer Club lost its home. The sale of The Taxandria Community Centre resulted in the loss of two of the three soccer pitches we used, as well as our change rooms, showers, and washrooms. Since that time, the Soccer Club has partnered with the Township of Warwick to build a new soccer complex. Warwick, with financial support from Lambton Shores, has purchased 10.7 acres of land, which includes the one remaining soccer pitch.

 

The Soccer Club has been busy over the past two and a half years raising funds for the development of our new soccer complex. We have received two grants from the Ontario Trillium Foundation totalling $81,000. Donations from community foundations, businesses, service clubs, and from our own members have raised an additional $200,000. Thanks to many hours of volunteer labour from many members, we have succeeded in building and seeding the three new pitches, building a parking lot, and building a clubhouse which should be completed in time for the 2009 season.

 

The clubhouse will contain washrooms, change rooms complete with showers, a canteen, storage, and a meeting room. The building is designed to act as an indoor shelter during inclement weather. There will also be a pavilion attached to the building.

 

At this time we continue to raise funds to complete the new complex in time for a grand opening in late May or early June. With your generous help, we can continue to run a safe and affordable soccer program. Please consider donating to this community project.

 

Contributions are to be made payable to the Township of Warwick for the Taxandria Falcons Soccer Complex Project. The Township of Warwick will issue charitable donation tax receipts. Donations of $1,500.00 or more may be spread out over a period of up to 3 years.
